(Finally) A Poll

Happy Monday everyone, and thank you all for your well-wishes. After about a week of feeling like my head is going to explode, and my limbs weighing about as much as a small car, I'm finally feeling something like my usual self. I've got some catching up to do so apologies for not responding to your comments, or reading your blogs over the last few days. I have nearly 700 blog posts on my feeder, so it could take a while! (And no, I'm afraid I'm probably not going to read every single one).

I felt awful about not putting any Musical Stories up last Friday, I think it's the first week I've missed, but they'll be back this week. For those new to the blog, this is the first one I did, which has an explanation of what the series is about. There are two more weeks to go and then we've come to the end of another series so I'd like to know what you want to see next. I love doing them, this isn't me looking for a way out, but I only want to carry on if you're still enjoying them. I did wonder about dropping the number of songs down to two. I know we all like to read a lot of blogs, and maybe three songs a week is just too many.

I've added a poll to my sidebar at the top, which will be there for the next ten days. I'd really appreciate it if you'd take a few moments to complete it for me. You'll notice there's a vote for the 'synopsis idea'. Laura at Daily Dodo had a really interesting idea. She suggested I get you to send me a short pitch or synopsis of your story, and I'll pick a song or two that I think suits it. I love this idea, but obviously I'd need some audience participation to make it work! If you have any other ideas you think might work, feel free to drop me an email or leave a comment below. Thanks guys.

Now to catch up with you all :-)

  1. Glad you're feeling better! I like the synopsis idea. And I hope no one says they don't visit on Fridays! That's rude.

    1. Thank you Margot, if it wasn't for your suggestions, I don't think I could have run the stories for as long as I did :-)

  3. I like the synopsis idea, too -- it would help you choose your songs, too!

  5. I like the synopsis idea. I'm putting the finishing touches on my book's blog tour, and I can't go on tour without music, so I'll offer you my pitch for your series. Let me know, and Rock on ...

  11. No need for apologies, Sarah - you were ill, it happens to us all, And it blogs remain unread - so be it. Glad you're feeling human, at last.

  12. Glad to hear you're feeling better. You're still doing better than I am with with your blog reader, though. I've been at 1000+ posts for over a month now, and no matter how many I read, I can't seem to get the counter below 1000.

That's why I've started to use email subscriptions to keep track of the blogs I want to read on a regular basis. Have you considered adding an email subscription for your blog?

  14. Glad you're rejoining the world of the healthy. Don't even try to catch up with all those posts -- therein lies madness. Do what you can, and don't stress the rest. (That's my motto, anyway.)

  19. Oh, Sarah. As a few have said, there's no need for apologies. 'Tis life my friend and it's same for many of us (apologies for not visiting for SUCH a long time!)

Hope you are feeling better and stronger. All any of can do is keep going, as best we can

  20. Glad you're feeling better.

Love the synopsis idea. If you do this please (pretty please) can my book be one of those you use. Maybe those people who haven't written a book could send a synopsis of one they've enjoyed reading instead.

    I'm glad you're feeling better.

  23. My daughter told me that you have been under the weather, (she reads your blogs too even though she does not have a blogger account). I am glad that you are feeling better. I have had some catching up to do too. I am not like I used to be with reading. I think it is the "getting old part" that is slowing me down. One of these days, I shall be up to date. Meanwhile take care of yourself.

  24. Hi Sarah. Sorry you haven't been feeling well. I hope you're soon back as good as new. Musical Stories is a great concept. Even though I voted to keep it as is, the synopsis idea flies too. D.

  35. Glad you're feeling better. I like what you're doing. You've brought back some good memories for me with the songs and reminded me of others I'd totally forgotten. As long as the synopses aren't long, then I won't mind reading what others have going. I voted.

Do let me know what you'd like me to promote on my blog as a runner-up prize to the quiz. Or if you'd like to hold it over for a while then that's fine.

  40. Hey, sorry to hear you've been sick, but I'm glad that you're feeling better. It seems like there's some kind of bug going around 'cause I had to deal with 2 sick kids this week, plus hubster and myself. At least we're finally starting to get better.

You know, I don't know a lot about music (or I never paid much attention, I guess), so I've always enjoyed your musical stories. But then again, the synopsis idea sounds good, too. I guess it'll depend on the poll result, eh? ;)

    1. Aww, I'm sorry to hear that - it's so much worse when you have to look after others as well as being sick yourself. I hope you're well on the way to being better now.

It looks like we'll be running with the synopsis idea, but I suspect the Stories will be back eventually :-)
